Rensbou Feedlot Ready Calf's
What is Feedlot Ready Calf's
A feedlot ready Calf's is an intensive livestock farming operation where animals like beef calf's are confined in pens and fed high-energy, grain-based diets to maximize weight gain and fat deposition prior to slaughter.
STEP 1
CLASSIFICATION
After the calf's arrive at the feedlot, they are classified according to weight and quality.
Thereafter they are treated with veterinarian-approved products. Cattle that weigh between 100–180kg are sent to the field for back grounding.
STEP 2
BACK GROUNDING
Back grounding is where cattle are kept in a stress-free environment to facilitate the adaptation process in the feedlot.
The process is between 60–100 days. Thereafter, the cattle are brought back to the feedlot at an average weight of 240kg.
STEP 3
FEEDLOT PHASES
The feedlot process consists of 3 different phases and lasts a total of 90 days.
The phases consist of:
01 Adjustment (Starter): 10 days
02 Growth (Grower): 16 days
03 Performer 64 Day
STEP 4
After the 90 days at the Calf feedlot the Calf's are ready to be introduce to BIG feedlot at 250 - 280 kg
Calf's available between 250kg to 280kg (Feedlot ready)
